Exhibition Statement:

Kashan, the historic birthplace of Iran’s textile industry, still preserves traces of this legacy in its architecture and collective memory. Holding the project From Rupture to Connection in the Kashan Textile Industrial Town makes this connection more tangible, transforming the city’s historical and industrial environment into a living context for experiencing the works.

Amid all the formal and technical differences among the works, an inner connection emerges: a return to the past and its re-creation in the present. At times this past refers to the artist’s family background and personal experience, and at other times to a collective and historical memory that continues to live within the fabric of our lives.

Thread, warp, and fabric in these works are not merely raw materials; they function as tools for recording and transmitting memory. By employing techniques rooted in tradition, the artists construct a new language that expresses the individual and social experiences of today.

This project seeks to demonstrate how textile practice and fiber art, despite their deep connection to tradition, can serve as a platform for contemporary and personal expression. Textile art here is not a reproduction of the past, but a field for re-creating the lived experiences of artists today.
